Kenny Omega Illness: Diagnosed With Diverticulitis Disease

Kenny Omega, a renowned professional wrestler and a prominent figure in AEW, has recently been diagnosed with a medical condition known as diverticulitis.

This condition is reportedly characterized by the inflammation or infection of one or more small pouches in the digestive tract, leading to severe discomfort and potential complications.

During a segment of AEW Dynamite on 13 December, Omega, 40 years old, was visibly in pain while sharing the stage with fellow wrestlers Chris Jericho, Ricky Starks, and Big Bill.

His health situation was reported to be “very very serious” before his hospitalization.

Omega’s illness has had a significant impact on the operations of All Elite Wrestling, with no current timetable for his return to the ring.

This has led to a reshuffling of plans within the organization. In a candid update shared on social media, Omega announced his indefinite hiatus from wrestling due to his health condition.

This news has left fans and fellow wrestlers alike wishing him a speedy recovery.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Omega was fortunate to have discovered his health condition when he did.

The report suggested that any further delay in diagnosis could have been catastrophic.

It was stated that the former World Champion would have had only a 50 percent chance of survival if the ailment had been diagnosed at a later stage.

The 40-year-old professional wrestler later took to social media to shed light on his condition.

Through a post on platform X, Omega revealed that he had been grappling with pain and discomfort for some time and would be stepping away from the ring indefinitely.

Although he did not specify the nature of his ailment in the post, he shared a somewhat disconcerting image of himself with an IV line attached to his arm, indicating serious health concerns.

Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp subsequently reported that Omega, who also serves as an Executive Vice President at AEW, is suffering from diverticulitis.

According to Sapp, Omega had been feeling unwell prior to his match against Ethan Page on the latest episode of AEW Collision. He sought medical attention this week and was subsequently hospitalized.
