Born on July 2, 1983, Alicia Menendez has established herself as a prominent television commentator, host, and writer, with a career marked by insightful contributions to political discourse and a commitment to amplifying underrepresented voices.

Alicia Menendez is not only a seasoned television commentator but also an accomplished author. In 2019, she added “author” to her list of accolades with the publication of her book, The Likeability Trap: How to Break Free and Succeed as You Are. This insightful work delves into societal expectations and offers a guide to navigating the professional world authentically.

Since 2020, Menendez has been the anchor for MSNBC, lending her voice and expertise to the network. Hosting the weekend program American Voices with Alicia Menendez, she brings a fresh perspective to the political conversation, exploring a range of topics that resonate with viewers across the nation.

Menendez’s journalistic journey is rich and varied. Before joining MSNBC, she served as a correspondent on the PBS show Amanpour & Company and hosted Come Here and Say That on Fusion. Her role as a host and producer at HuffPost Live showcased her ability to engage audiences on a wide array of topics.

Her contributions extend beyond traditional media outlets. A frequent guest on CNN, Fox News Channel, and MSNBC, Menendez’s insights have reached diverse audiences. Alongside Adriana Maestas, Menendez co-founded Dailygrito.com in 2011, offering a Latino perspective on politics and media. The website’s success led to its acquisition by Politic365.com in 2012.

As a co-founder of Define American, a platform focusing on immigration reform, Menendez has played a vital role in shaping conversations around one of the nation’s most critical issues. Her commitment to advocacy extends to her roles as Senior Advisor at NDN, a think tank in Washington, DC, and her involvement with organizations like Rock the Vote and Democracia USA.

Alicia Menendez’s journey intersects with the world of politics through her familial connection to United States Senator Bob Menendez, her father. Despite the complexities of balancing personal and professional life, Menendez handles her role with integrity and professionalism.

In September 2023, Menendez faced a unique challenge when her father, Senator Bob Menendez, was indicted for the second time on federal corruption charges. Taking a principled stance, Menendez recused herself from covering her father’s criminal indictment on her MSNBC show American Voices, emphasizing the network’s commitment to thorough coverage.

Menendez’s influence extends beyond journalism into social commentary. In response to divisive comments made by Fox News host Jesse Watters about single women voters, Menendez aptly coined the term “big incel vibes” on MSNBC. Her ability to articulate and confront such issues highlights her dedication to fostering inclusive and respectful discourse.
