Marie Antoinette was the last queen of France before the French Revolution. She was born the Duke of Austria, the penultimate child and youngest daughter of Queen Maria Theresia and Emperor Francis I. On May 10, 1774, her husband ascended the throne as Louis XVI and she became queen. Marie Antoinette's position at court improved after 8 years of marriage, she began to have a child. However, she became increasingly unpopular, with the French accusing her of being vulgar, flirtatious, sympathetic to enemies considered France - especially her homeland - and her children were illegitimate. The false accusations of the diamond necklace incident have further damaged his reputation.

From 1774 to 1792, she was Queen of France and the wife of Louis XVI, who was murdered by guillotine after the Revolutionary Tribunal declared him guilty of treason. Her extravagant lifestyle was frequently criticized by the French for the country's financial crisis, and she became a scapegoat for many of the country's ills.
