Masika Kalysha Tucker, Kalysha’s birth name, was born on June 7, 1985, in Chicago, Illinois. She spent her childhood in Jonesboro, Georgia, and is of French Creole descent. Kalysha graduated from Mount Zion High School in Jonesboro in 2003, completing her studies.

However, a devastating occurrence in her life, the death of her friend Lashawna Threatt, drove her to make a life-changing decision.

On August 11, 2011, Kalysha moved to Los Angeles, California, to pursue her aspirations of acting and modeling. This relocation was a watershed moment in her career as she strove to establish herself in the entertainment world, aiming to realize her full potential and dreams.

Kalysha’s musical career began in 2015 when she released her single “Andale” with Fetty Wap. This song featured a different approach than her previous two singles, “No More” and “Hella Hollywood,” which were both released earlier in the spring of 2015.

The May 2015 release of “Hella Hollywood” used bits from the 1996 Fugees hit album “Ready or Not,” giving her music a distinct feel.
