Edgar Hansen net worth: Edgar Hansen is an Alaskan commercial fisherman and reality television star who has a net worth of $700 thousand dollars. Edgar Hansen is the younger brother of Sig Hansen, the Captain of The Northwestern, one of the crab boats featured on the reality television show, Deadliest Catch on the Discovery Channel. He serves as the Relief Skipper and DeckBoss as well as the cook for the crew, and has a reputation for being tough, but fair. He is also well known for his excellent cooking skills. The crew of The Northwestern has been chronicled since the first season of the Deadliest Catch series and the show has garnered particularly high ratings for the Discovery Channel; as it regularly sets most-watched records for the network. Edgar has been fishing since the age of 18 and when he first joined the crew of the Northwestern, he joined as a cook. He now wears many hats including relief skipper, deck boss, and chief engineer which means he is responsible for both the main and auxiliary engines, the hydraulic and fuel systems, and the sea water pumps. While he is tough on the crew to maintain safety standards, he is also quite compassionate as can be seen with his gesture in 2009 when he sacrificed a portion of his own pay so that Jake Anderson could become a full-share deckhand. The Hansen brothers are fourth generation Norwegian fishermen and they celebrate Norwegian Independence Day, as well as other holidays when they are not fishing. Edgar is married and has three children. While working on the Northwestern is very important to him, balancing the life at sea with his family can sometimes leave him conflicted and exploring other options.
