When Jessica Alba first demonstrated interest in performing at the age of five, her career in the entertainment industry officially began. When she was eleven years old, she persuaded her mother to take her to a Beverly Hills acting contest, where she won the grand prize of free acting lessons.

She joined with an agent and started her acting career nine months later. In 1994’s Camp Nowhere, she played the character Gail in her first small-scale acting role. She was initially hired for a two-week stint, but when another actress withdrew, her role was extended to two months.

Jessica has previously starred in J. C. Penney and Nintendo television advertisements. She later dabbled in indie film, and in 1994, she made her television debut in three episodes of the Nickelodeon comedy series The Secret World of Alex Mack as the vain Jessica.

She played the role of Maya for the first two seasons of the 1995 television show Flipper. Jessica’s real-life swimming abilities, developed under the direction of her lifeguard mother, served her well in the Australian-filmed movie Flipper.
