Nicholas Galitzine is an English actor who has appeared in films such as High Strung (2016), Handsome Devil (2016), and Cinderella (2021). He also appeared in the Netflix film Purple Hearts, which was released on July 29, 2022.

Nick Galitzine’s surname comes from a nickname of his ancestor, Prince Mikhail “Golitsa.”

Some official records in the United Kingdom identify actor Nicholas Galitzine, his father, and his grandfather as Prince Galitzine. They are all descended from the Russian noble House of Golitsyn.

The Golitsyns, also known as the Galitzines, were one of Russia’s largest princely houses during the Tsardom.

The Galitzines were grand princes who ruled over principalities and duchies ranging from modern-day Lithuania to Poland, Ukraine, and Russia.

Actor Nick Galitzine’s recent ancestors were a family branch that fled Russia for safety in England. They had to leave everything behind.

Despite having lost all of their possessions, the Galitzines are still a non-reigning princely house today.

They recovered from their abrupt fall and worked hard to re-establish themselves in England. They are now successful business owners, entrepreneurs, and artists.
