Julie Ashfield is the Managing Director of Corporate Buying at the United Kingdom branch of Aldi.

Aldi, also stylized as ALDI, is the company brand name of two multinational family-woned supermarket chains founded and based in Germany, operating over 10,000 stores in 20 countries.

The chain was founded by two brothers named Karl and Theo, of the Albrecht family, in 1946. They built it after they took over their mother’s store in Essen, Germany.

As the business grew successful, the brothers split it into two separate groups in 1960 called Aldi Nord and Aldi Sud, with the former headquartered in Essen and the latter in Mulheim.  Julie Ashfield, as she works in Aldi UK, technically comes under the branch of Aldi Sud, which is in charge of the UK, Ireland, Hungary, Switzerland, Australia, China, Austria, Slovenia, and Italy.

Quick Facts About Julie Ashfield

How Much Is Julie Ashfield’s Salary?

Though Julie Ashfield’s exact salary is not known, the highest salary for a Managing Director in the Uk is £268,519.

As Ashfield is one of the top Managing Directors in the country, one can assume that she makes about as much or perhaps even more than the above amount. As the Managing Director, Ashfield’s duties include directing and controlling Aldi UK’s operations and giving strategic guidance and direction to ensure the company’s objectives.

Ashfield has made quite the name for herself through her duties as she has almost become the face of Aldi UK and often appears in press releases for the company.

One of her most prominent press runs was when she appeared in a feature for The Sun, where she talked about Specialbuys. In the feature, Ashfield, as Aldi’s Managing Director, shared some of her top tips on the supermarket’s bargain aisle.

The feature built Ashfield’s name as a trusted source of information for anything Aldi, as many of Ashfield’s tips were adopted by the public to great success. Since then, not only has Ashfield become the go-to person for news sources whenever anything new occurs with Aldi but also a voice the public can trust.

How Much Is Julie Ashfield’s Net Worth?

As with her salary, Julie Ashfield’s net worth is not known to the public, but Aldi UK has a net worth of £13.65 billion.

Aldi Sud started its UK branch in 1990, spreading to 956 branches. Not only is the UK branch very successful, but it is one of their top branches outside of Germany and the US, which is saying something given the UK’s tiny geographical location.

Aldi has also won Supermarket of the Year for two years in the country from 2012 to 2013.

The company also won the Grocer of the Year Award in 2013, and they would have won Supermarket of the Year again in February 2015 but narrowly lost to Waitrose. However, a couple of months later, in the same year, in April, they overtook Waitrose and became the United Kingdom’s sixth-largest supermarket chain.

Their grip on the country has only increased as the years go by, as in February 2017, they overtook Co-op to become the UK’s fifth largest supermarket chain. But the year wasn’t perfect as Marks & Spencer beat them for the title of Supermarket of the Year 2017.

However, despite the award losses, it was reported that nearly two-thirds of UK households visited an Aldi branch at least once every 12 weeks.

Who Are Julie Ashfield’s Family?

Though not much is known about Julie Ashfield’s personal life, it is known that she is married with three children.

She provided the information to The Grocer when she did an interview with them on May 29, 2020. The interview largely revolved around her career and Aldi, and revealed surprisingly little about the woman.

However, she talked a bit about being a working mother of three and stated that the last book she’d read then was The Smartest Giant in Town, which was her daughter’s favorite.

As such, one can surmise that at least one of her children is a daughter who is of an age where her mother needs to read to her in bed.

Since the article was written two years ago and reported her as 44, she should be 46 now. Ashfield continues to be one of the most prominent figures in Aldi UK, as far as the public is concerned.
