Karen Blanche Black is an American actress, screenwriter, singer and songwriter. She rose to fame for her work in various independent studios and films in the 1970s, frequently portrayed wacky and unusual characters, and established herself as a New Hollywood icon. His career spanned over 50 years and included nearly 200 credits in independent and mainstream films. Black has received numerous awards throughout her career, including two Golden Globes, as well as an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress. Originally from a Chicago suburb, Black studied acting at Northwestern University before dropping out and moving to New York City. She performed on Broadway in 1965 before making the film's debut in Francis Ford Coppola's You're a Big Boy Now. Black moved to California and was cast as a stealing LSD prostitute in Dennis Hopper's Easy Rider.
