Meet Robert Gordon Wife, Mary Lee And Their Kids

Robert Gordon married Mary Lee Gordon in 1995 and had two children, Jessie and Anthony, from his previous marriage. He loved his wife, Mary, dearly.

The rock musician even released a song for her called Mary Lee. The theme, with melodic music and catchy lyrics, expresses his love for his partner.

Robert was previously married in 1967. He was only 19 then and moved with his family to New York City to open a clothing boutique, but he changed his mind after seeing the city’s bourgeoning punk scene when bands like Blondie, Television, and the Ramones were beginning to storm CBGB.

The marriage did not work out, and he divorced eight years later, in 1975. Further details of his first wife are unavailable.

Robert was born in Bethesda, Maryland, U.S., on March 29, 1947. He was 75 when he passed away.

Robert Gordon Death Cause: He Was Ill For A Long Time

Following a leukemia diagnosis, Robert Gordon died on October 18, 2022, at Don Greene Hospice in New York City. His record label Cleopatra Records, confirmed the news in a Facebook statement, expressing their condolences to his family and friends.

Robert’s family had set up a GoFundMe page, noting that the singer had been in the hospital for six weeks as he battled acute myeloid leukemia. He was living with the illness for several years.

The page reminded me of Robert’s incredible voice and music that has put rockabilly back on the map and made memories for the fans.

Although Robert was scheduled to perform in the U.S. and Canada this past summer with musicians like Spedding, Anton Fig, and Tony Garnier, he was forced to cancel his performance due to his health issues related to leukemia.

Robert Gordon Net Worth And Career

Robert Gordon was believed to have a net worth of 1 to 5 million USD per online sources. However, there is no verified source of this information.

Robert was interested in music from a young age and cited Elvis Presley’s Heartbreak Hotel as one of his main inspirations. His other influences included Gene Vincent, Billy Lee Riley, and Eddie Cochran.

The musician made his recording debut at 17 with a band called the Confidentials. In 1970, he moved to New York City and joined the Tuff Darts, a punk band that later recorded several songs, including All for the Love of Rock and Roll, Head Over Heels, and Slash.

During this time, producer Richard Gottehrer, who also helped launch the careers of the Ramones and Blondie, suggested the singer try rockabilly-style music with guitarist and instrumental-rock pioneer Link Wray.

The duo’s first album, Robert Gordon With Link Wray, was released in 1977. Robert signed with Elvis Presley’s label, RCA Records, in 1978.

The famous rock musician hit the Hot 100 twice in his career: first with a cover of Red Hot along with Wray (No. 83 in 1977) and his version of Marshall Crenshaw’s Someday, Someway (No. 76 in 1981).

He released many albums and records until 2020 and toured globally, sharing bills with Glen Matlock, Kiss, and Bob Dylan. Robert’s final album, Hellafied, is scheduled for posthumous release on November 25, 2022.
