Melissa Mathison was a screenwriter and activist from the United States. Melissa had a net worth of $100 million when she died in 2015.

Melissa was a well-known screenwriter, best known for her work on E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial. Her divorce from actor Harrison Ford in 2004 accounted for the vast majority of her fortune at the time of her death.

Mathison received a large payout from her ex-husband in 2004, ranging from $85 million to $118 million. It’s one of the most expensive celebrity divorces ever.

The settlement included a portion of the royalties from the films Ford produced during their marriage, which included blockbusters like Patriot Games, and Presumed Innocent, two Indiana Jones films, The Fugitive, and Air Force One.

Mathison was a location assistant on The Godfather: Part II and an executive assistant on Apocalypse Now.

She received Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Horror Films, Los Angeles Film Critics Association, and Writers Guild of America awards for E.T., and was nominated for an Academy Award, a Golden Globe Award, and a BAFTA Award.
