What is Oliver Marmol ethnicity? Let’s explore the baseball player’s family background, heritage, and more details.

Oliver Marmol is an American former baseball player, now turned coach.

Pittsburg Pirates drafted him in the 31st round of the 2004 MLB draft, but he refused to sign, instead played college baseball at College of Charleston. Then in the sixth round of the 2007 MLB draft, St. Louis Cardinals drafted him.

His Minor League Baseball career began with the affiliate teams of the Cardinals, which finished in 2010 after three years of playing. And now, reports suggest that the Cardinals will announce Oliver as its next manager during a press conference today.

With that announcement, he will be the youngest manager in the Major League Baseball (MLB). He will be succeeding Mike Shildt, who had an impressive 92 win season and postseason. Further, he had an astounding win percentage of .559 within three seasons, just behind Johnny Keane’s .560.

To succeed a manager with such outstanding stats, Marmol probably feels a lot of pressure. Recipient of the 2015 FSL coach of the year, he does have the experience. Moreover, Oliver was the hitting coach of the Gulf Coast League Cardinals in 2011. Additionally, he also has a history of managing Johnson City Cardinals and Palm Beach Cardinals.

And before the news, he worked with the Cardinals as their coach, first base coach since the 2017 season, and bench coach before the 2019 season.
