The last hour stats show that Shy Odom ended the first quarter with a buzzer-beating three-pointer. Sierra Canyon defeated St. Vincent-St. Mary by a score of 19 to 4. With 6 points, Bronny James is the team’s leading scorer.

Staying on the East Coast and playing for a top prep school were options for the 6-foot-6 small forward. Brewster Academy in New England has top-level prospects like Kentucky’s Terrence Clarke, and Odom considered Thayer Academy, where his uncle works. After that, Sierra Canyon drew his attention with its excellent roster.

Odom settled in on a squad as talented as Sierra Canyons. He averaged 8.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per game this season while shooting 51.5 percent from the field.

Odom competed with tenacity and flair on the floor, throwing high-flying dunks and muscling his way into the paint for easy layups and snagging rebounds, which is a key component of their spectacular offense.

For example, early in the game at the Hoophall Classic in Springfield, Odom scored on back-to-back offensive plays, the first on a Bronny pass and the second on a lob from Boston. He was selected Player of the Game after scoring 16 points and grabbing ten rebounds.
