Pollard was born in Nottingham, the eldest daughter of Don and Hilda Pollard. There isn’t much information about her parents on the internet as she has been quiet about her personal life.

Following an apprenticeship at the Arts Theatre in Nottingham, Pollard gained recognition by appearing on Opportunity Knocks in 1974, where her rendition of “I Cain’t Say No” from Oklahoma! earned her second place. This marked the beginning of her diverse career that encompassed stage plays, musicals, and even a Cameron Mackintosh West End production of Godspell.

Pollard’s breakthrough came with her role as chalet maid Peggy Ollerenshaw in the BBC sitcom Hi-de-Hi! which ran until 1988. Amidst her successful acting career, she achieved musical success, hitting No. 2 on the UK Singles Chart in 1986 with the song “Starting Together,” the theme for the BBC Television series The Marriage.

In more recent years, Su Pollard has continued to captivate audiences. From a guest role in the Christmas special of ITV’s Benidorm in 2010 to her appearance on BBC One’s Strictly Come Dancing in 2011, Pollard’s enthusiasm for entertainment knows no bounds.
