The Inevitable Defeat of Mister and Pete Summary

The Inevitable Defeat of Mister and Pete summary reveals the relationship between Mister and Pete as friends and their survival away from the family.

The movie starts by showing the main character named Mister who is only 14 years and was average in his studies. His dream was to become an actor.

Everyone mocked him in school as he has to repeat the class and belonged to a poor family as well as they all knew her mother’s filthy way of earning.

He then went to the bathroom, where he saw someone had written bad things about his mother, he could not control himself and began crying.

His poor family background, living in a bad neighborhood in New York City, and his mother Gloria being addicted to drugs were hampering him.

On the other hand, Pete is 9 years old, and he has come to live with Mister’s mother as his mother was her friend and addicted like her.

Mister, the main character, desperately wanted his mother to be more responsible and leave all other illegal work.

But Gloria was extremely addicted, she was not able to stay sane for a moment, and neither she could leave her filthy job.

Both Mister and Pete’s mothers worked for the area thug named Kris. One day when the police came to that society, they caught their mothers.

Mister knew that if the police took them with their mother, then they will send to the child service center.

He and Pete managed to hide from the police and make an effort to take care of each other because he didn’t want to go to child service.

The two children had to rely on one another as the plot develops because they had no money, food, or anything else to live on.

They couldn’t resist their hunger, so they decided to buy food for themselves. This led them to steal, lie, and even sell items from their house.

Mister and Pete were continuously humiliated by their neighbor, friends, and shopkeepers. They even try begging for money.

They were certain that Mister’s mom Gloria would return soon, but there was no trace of her coming back which led them to more difficulties.

When he discovered that his mother had been released from prison but had not returned home, he began looking for Gloria.

On the other hand, Mister was completely broken while Pete became ill from malnourishment and later was taken by the police.

One policeman saw Mister as he was asking for a job and brought him to the children’s home. He discovers Pete there, who appears more healthy than before.

One fine day at the Child home center, his mother shows up and apologizes to him for her ignorant and irresponsible behavior, and moved back with his mother.
