Perhaps one of the significant things Donal Logue is known for his portrayal of the iconic comic book character, Harvey Bullock on Gotham. The Canadian-American actor has had a career that spans across film and television with credits in films like Blade, Ghost Rider, and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. But perhaps more significant than his long filmography was the brief disappearance of his daughter, Jade Logue in 2017.

Jade Logue’s disappearance was a harsh reminder that Hollywood personalities are still human and plagued with the challenges of being one. Jade Logue, who is a transgender, was missing for 12 days, sparking search efforts from the NYPD and the FBI before she was found.

Here is a look at the life of Jade Logue and the infamous incident that began on the 27th of June, 2017.

Who is Jade Logue?

Jade Logue was born on the 25th of March, 2001 in Brooklyn New York to the famous actor, Donal Logue and his wife/partner, Kasey Smith. Jade Logue was born as Arlo Logue, a boy before she transitioned into a girl and was renamed, Jade.

She is the second child in the Donal Logue – Kasey Smith union, with an older brother named Finn. Until her disappearance, not much is known of Jade Logue and after the disappearance, not a lot is known about her either.

So far, it remains to be seen what Jade Logue will do with her life; if she will follow in the footsteps of her father in the acting industry or create her own path in another profession.

Her Life as a Transgender

Even for children of celebrities, the struggle with coming out as a transgender remains. The internal struggle of accepting oneself and the external struggle to be accepted by people cuts across money, influence, and prestige. It is a battle Jade fought early on as a child, who was born a boy but identified more as a girl in her lifestyle.

Thankfully, Jade Logue was born into an understanding family who supported her and helped her in her decision to transition from a boy to a girl, effectively changing her name from Arlo to Jade. When she was 15, she then came out to the rest of the world as a transgender.

When she came out via a tweet in April 2016, she made a joke about the fact she was opening herself up to bullying and discrimination. The joke turned out to be too real in June 2017 when she left her home and failed to return.

While there hasn’t been a confirmation as to why exactly she left her home, there have been multiple cases of transgender people fleeing their homes and environment because of how they were treated. Her disappearance sparked a search across social media and several law enforcement agencies after her father, Donal Logue tweeted about his daughter missing status.

With the coordinated efforts of the NYPD, the FBI and the National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children, they were able to find Jade Logue on 8th of July 2017, almost two weeks after she went missing on the 27th of June, 2017. She was found in North Carolina, where she was reportedly staying with a friend.

Among those who also helped in the search of Jade Logue included actors Danny Trejo, Olivia Wilde and Mark Ruffalo. Ever since her return, she has stayed mostly out of the limelight and continues to live with her family in Los Angeles.
