Tina Fey found her breakthrough when she worked as head writer and cast member of Saturday Night Live. After leaving the show, she cemented her place as a comedy juggernaut when she created one of TV’s funniest and most popular comedy projects, 30 Rock. Since then, she has added several feathers to her cap, across film, TV and literature.

All of these made her a lot of money and she is arguably one of the richest women, nay, people in Hollywood. Tina Fey’s fame and wealth has also brought intense interest to her personal life, with tremendous focus on her relationship with her celebrity best friend, and longtime husband, Jeff Richmond.

Tina Fey and Jeff Richmond Have Been Married Since 2011

In the early days of Tina Fey’s career as a comedian, she performed with the improvisational comedy troupe, The Second City. There, she met Jeff Richmond, a composer and music/TV director who joined the troupe as a musical director. They remained together through Fey’s career journey, from SNL to 30 Rock.

Seven years into their relationship, on June 3, 2001, they got married in a Greek Orthodox Ceremony. They have remained married ever since, becoming one of Hollywood’s most powerful couples. Beyond being each other’s enduring partner, they also share two children.

They gave birth to their first child, Alice Zenobia Richmond, in September 2005. Their second, another daughter, Penelope Athena Richmond, was born in August 2011.

It might be too early to say where the pendulum will swing regarding their children’s choice of career. However, Alice once famously played Tina’s younger self in an episode of 30 Rock.

Since April 2009, four years after the birth of their first child, they have lived in Upper West Side in New York City. They live in an apartment in the affluent area they bought for $3.4 million.

Tina and Her Husband are Frequent Collaborators

There is no doubt a relationship expert or celebrity gossip expert could dissect all the reasons that have made Tina Fey and Jeff Richmond’s marriage an exception to the Hollywood curse. But, we will stick to the fact that beyond just being husband and wife, they are also creative partners.

Since they met in Second City, they have worked together on practically every project that has made Tina the icon she is today. After she joined Saturday Night Live as a writer and cast member, Richmond joined the show as a music director.

Later, after Tina Fey said goodbye to SNL and began 30 Rock, Jeff followed suit and became a producer and music composer for the sitcom. Not only did he compose some of the show’s iconic music, but he also appeared as an extra on numerous occasions, playing Alfonso Disperioso. Furthermore, he also directed five episodes of the show.

In between the otherworldly success of 30 Rock, Tina Fey and her best friend, Amy Poehler starred in the film, Baby Mama. Jeff Richmond was also present to work as the film’s music composer. More recently, he co-produced and composed the music for Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, another Tina Fey sitcom.

But for all of the success of their various collaborations, none was more mind-blowing that their musical, Mean Girls. It is based on Tina Fey’s film and features music composed by Richmond. The musical premiered at the National Theatre in Washington DC and opened on Broadway at the August Wilson Theatre.

The show has received 12 Tony Award nominations, including Best Musical, Best Book of a Musical and Best Original Score. It also received nine Drama Desk nominations, and a combined eleven nominations from Drama League, Outer Critics Circle and Chita Rivera Awards.

Tina Fey is Worth $75 Million

That’s right. The accomplished comedian from Upper Darby Township in Pennsylvania is worth $75 million. She has multiple successful projects under her belt, including 30 Rock and SNL. There is also an endless number of awards, including the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor, for which she is the youngest-ever recipient.

So, it comes as no surprise that the comedian has a lot of money to back up her critical acclaim. The biggest driver of her net worth is her work behind the camera, via the production company, Little Stranger, Inc.

Co-founded with Eric Gurian, she has produced hit works like 30 Rock, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Sisters, Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, and a few others. Thus, Tina’s income via production continues to rise. Other works like The Kicker, Fancy Nancy, Mean Girls and Mail-Order Groom are scheduled for future releases.

While her exact income on each work remains unknown, we do know she made up to $500,000 per episode on 30 Rock.

Other Notable Sources of Income

As an actress, 30 Rock remains the most notable project of her career, one that earned her a lot of money. However, she has made several millions of dollars appearing in over 42 movies and TV shows. Some of her supposedly top-earning roles as a cast member include SNL, Wine Country, Megamind, Sisters and Mean Girls.

Outside of acting and production, she is also a writer, with more than 22 credits to her name. Other than writing credits on film and TV, her book, Bossypants, released in April 2011, has sold more than 2.5 million copies.

The book topped The New York Times Best Seller list for five weeks after its release. The audiobook version, narrated by Tina, sold more than 150,000 copies and earned her a Grammy nomination. In 2011, when the book was released, her total income, combined with other sources, reached $13 million.

Tina Fey’s $75 million net worth has also come from hosting shows like the Golden Globes and endorsement deals for brands like Garnier, Allstate and American Express. She and her husband’s musical, Mean Girls, grossed up to $1.5 million during its 2018 run on Broadway.

How Tina Fey Spends Her Money

With a lot more ka-ching than most of us will see in a lifetime, Tina Fey has availed herself of a few luxuries. We mentioned earlier that she and her husband live in $3.4 million apartment in Upper West Side in New York. Before that, they owned a $1.9 million apartment in New York City and a smaller condo worth $550,000 not so far away from it, which they bought in 2006.

More recently in 2016, she and her husband bought a condo directly over their $3.4 million apartment for $9.51 million, $2 extra million more than its advertised price. The apartment formerly belonged to Harry Belafonte who sold it in 2005.

The apartment comes with ten rooms and four bedrooms, along with a private elevator, open plan kitchen and two fireplaces. Tina and her husband reportedly plan on joining both apartments to create a larger condo.

Outside of her pleasure, Tina Fey spends some of her impressive net worth on philanthropy. She supports causes like Autism Speaks, Mercy Corps and Love Our Children USA.
