What Does AFAB Mean On TikTok?

AFAB refers to the assigned female or male at birth. It means that no one chooses what gender they are given when they are born, but it might differ according to people’s preferences as they grow up and learn about the body.

In addition, AFAB is popular terminology in the LGBTQ community, and Tiktok seems to set the trend to facilitate such knowledge to young ones early on.

It might not be problematic on the surface, but it brings pressure and question to people’s minds about their gender preferences. The videos of 9-year-olds guessing their genders to be assigned rather than something they are proud of.

Thus, it is not considered to be expected for young ones to second guess their genders and experiment with their sexuality as it might lead to more harm than good in their life.

AFAB Meaning In Text

AFAB means Assigned Female or Male in Birth. The term refers to biological male and female, but the segregation of this terminology does not seem to have a definitive purpose other than stretching the fact of gender.

AMAB/AFAB isn’t a prediscursive slate upon which gender happens, it’s something that’s very much written/carved onto people’s bodies and minds. whether that’s through violence or enculturation, gender assignment is variable, culturally specific, & doesn’t always happen at birth.

Similarly, another term, Affirmed gender, refers to the gender that individuals want to call and refer to themselves as individuals could choose the gender they like.

The gender cannot be easily chosen. A woman cannot identify as a man, or a man cannot identify as a woman because the biological differences are significant in each gender.

However, the in-between individuals could acknowledge themselves as transgender as their assigned birth might not resonate with their sexual interests and emotions.

Thus, widespread education about AFAB and affirmed gender terminology only seem to cause confusion among individuals rather than bring clarity. It must be thoroughly explained in education institutions rather than young people depending on internet information.

Urban Dictionary And In Slang Explained

According to Urban Dictionary, AFAB refers to Assigned Female at Birth, and AMAB refers to Assigned Male at Birth. Thus, it is complex terminology that cannot be used lightly.

The dictionary states that if someone refers to Afab, then the individual was assigned female at birth, but it does not seem to be the case. It might relate to the surgery of transitioning to another gender or preferring another gender as a whole.

The issue embroils debate concerning its positive and negative impact on society. Nonetheless, it can be conceived that young kids cannot use this term and remain confused about their sexuality before overcoming their childhood.

Furthermore, a kid’s childhood and future might bring perplexity about their life with the misinformation spreading on the internet. Adults must take proper precautions while sharing such news on social media, which is easily accessible by children.
