Where is Sherri Papini in 2022? The former abduction victim has been arrested for allegedly lying about being kidnapped in 2016.

A woman from Northern California was arrested Thursday on accusations of lying to FBI agents after her odd disappearance sparked a three-week investigation.

On November 2, 2016, Papini’s husband reported her missing.

Her husband told the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office that his wife and children were not at home when he returned home from work.

The children had never been picked up from daycare by their mother, as she did every day.

The search for the missing mother spanned the entire state of California.

Three weeks later, Papini was discovered on the side of the roadway, injured.

The California Highway Patrol responded to many 911 calls on November 24, 2016, describing a woman, later identified as Papini, who was running in the center of Interstate 5 in Woodland, California. Her waist was encircled by a chain.

Papini claimed she was kidnapped by two Hispanic ladies who held her at gunpoint. Her kidnappers “branded” her shoulder on her, she told detectives.

According to authorities, she was living with a former boyfriend in Orange County, approximately 600 miles away from her home.

Interestingly enough, to make her story more credible, Papini injures herself.

In August 2020, Papini was told that lying to federal officials was a crime during an interview performed by a federal agent and a Shasta County Sheriff’s Office detective.

Investigators said Papini continued to lie about her alleged kidnappings rather than withdraw her story.

However, they later cooperated with her ex-boyfriend. He confirmed that she stayed with him at his home during the time she went missing.
