Why is Danny Pino left SVU?

Pino’s bromance with Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (SVU) which began in 2011 (in the show’s 13th season) came to an end in the 16th season, after three busy seasons. Its release comes as a shock to fans of the series. They wonder why he is leaving the show at a time when he was becoming a focal point of the show.

In the series, he announces his exit to his partner and friend, Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) when he attends the celebration of the successful adoption of his baby, Noah Porter Benson. It begins during the trial of sex trafficker Johnny D. as shots are fired in the courtroom by the criminal who grabs a gun from an officer and shoots the judge. Amaro tries to stop Johnny D from shooting more people and ends up getting shot in the liver and knee.

After spending about two weeks in the hospital recovering from surgery, the next time we’ll see him is at Benson’s during the celebrations. The reason he tells Benson he has to retire from the police department is because his promotion caps were sealed and his criminal record couldn’t go up in the system (citing the fact that he had been refused). promotion to sergeant due to an incident involving the murder of an unarmed boy in Season 15 that he was responsible for). He also mentioned the fact that his family (daughter and son) were in California.

In real life, we can’t seem to find answers to why he left the show. Speculation, however, continued to grow as to why the left. One explanation will be that he left so he could carve out a place for himself in the already ongoing series Chicago PD in which he played the same character – Inspector Nick Amaro.
