Luke James spent a long time providing background vocals for many outstanding acts before finally breaking into the music industry. He is now a two-time Grammy-nominated artist. The singer/songwriter and actor certainly has a story that needs to be heard, and you should keep reading this article to find out all you can about him.

Who is Luke James?

Luke James was born Luke James Boyd on June 13, 1984 in New Orleans, Louisiana, where he was single-handedly raised by his mother. Introduced to music at a fairly early age, he draws influence from a range of genres, most notably jazz and RnB. He ties the beginning of his love of music to the day he saw a contestant perform a cover of “A Song for You” at Showtime at the Apollo. He’d been swept up in the performance and said he knew right away that he wanted to entertain. His mother later found a copy of Donny’s records and he longed to reach people the way Donny did – through music.

He attended high school in Saint Augustine, New Orleans with Thomas Hyde and Quinten “Q” Spears. Together they formed a trio group called “Upskale” in the late 1990s. Frank Ocean also went to Saint Augustine at the same time as Luke James. It was Quentin Spears, one of their three singers, who introduced him to the man who would become his longtime manager, Frank Gatson. Frank Gatson also directed and choreographed Luke James.

The trio group Upskale split up after the three friends graduated from high school. Quentin Spears and Luke James formed a duo called Luke & Q and Luke James continued to perform under the moniker Luke The Singer. The duo soon formed the opening act for Tyrese Gibson during a concert, but the two members soon broke up after being unable to garner a large following.

On his own, Luke James seemed to be doing pretty well. Working harder on the songwriting aspect of his talent, he teamed up with producer Danja to make hits for pop, RnB and soul artists. He co-wrote hits like Chris Brown’s “Crawl,” Justin Bieber’s “That Should Be Me,” and Keri Hilson’s “Do It.” Destiny’s Child forced him and other members of the former Upskale trio to appear in the 2005 Soldier video. The experience must have been great because Beyonce, who was single at the time, chose him to appear in her music video “Run the World (Girls)” in 2011.

As previously mentioned, Luke James’ dream had been to entertain and so in 2016, with his career as a singer/songwriter already established, he went to audition for the role of singer Johnny Gill. He landed the role and was featured as a singer on BET’s The New Edition story in 2017.

height and weight

Luke James is 179 cm tall and weighs 80 kg. He seems to take his physique very seriously. He has said his routine focuses on cardio and core, which are considered two very difficult exercise areas. However, Luke James says that his goal isn’t to be tall, but rather to be lean and shredded.

Luke James girlfriend, is he gay?

Luke James has dated quite a number of people over the years. But his most talked-about relationship is 2014’s relationship with pop singer Jessie J. Their relationship lasted about a year when they split in 2015. However, despite the split, the two seem to remain very friendly. Although Luke James has been linked to a whole host of people since then, it is believed that he is still single. The singer/songwriter is as direct as it comes and hasn’t been linked to any male.

Luke James Fortune

Luke James is reported to have a net worth of approximately $6 million. He has increased his net worth over the years returning from his songwriting and music career. There’s also no doubt that his acting stints have also earned him a pretty penny to add to his ever-growing roster.
