Lysa TerKeurst and Art have been together for approximately 30 years.

In an interview with AL.com in February 2020, Lysa discussed her marriage. The author of It’s Not Supposed to Be This Way discussed her 2017 divorce from Art and their 2018 remarriage.

Lysa confirmed her separation from Art in 2017. Around the same period, the celebrity had breast cancer surgery. She said at the time that he was doing drugs and had “been constantly unfaithful to me with a woman he met online.”

Just over a year later in 2018 though, after attempting to repair their marriage, the couple reaffirmed their vows.

The author says, “It was a really special time.” I didn’t know if that day would ever arrive. Everyone may identify with trials, difficulties, flaws, destruction, and tears.

Unfortunately, TerKeurst said that her husband had “violated” those newly reaffirmed vows in her most recent divorce announcement made on January 2022.

According to Ministry Watch, Art responded to the divorce petition in February and asked for post-separation assistance, alimony, an equitable division of assets, damages, and the cancellation of a post-nuptial agreement.

He asserted that he was coerced into signing the post-nuptial agreement at a time when he was depressed and getting ready to check into an alcohol rehab center.

Art argued that the post-nuptial agreement was invalidated as part of the couple’s “fresh start” after he completed treatment for his addictions and they renewed their vows.

However, according to Ministry Watch, Lysa TerKeurst filed a motion to dismiss Art’s counterclaims, a demand to force arbitration, and a response to his claims in April.

Art is said to have met “Mistress X” on the website SugarDaddy.com and spent at least $118,000 of the TerKeursts’ money on the connection.

The 52-year-old stated in January that she had worked “very hard to not just rescue my marriage, but all in vein’ in her divorce declaration.
