Who is Merrick Hanna and how old is He Now?

Merrick Hanna was born and named Merrick William Hanna in San Diego, California, on March 22, 2005; to parents Shawn Hanna and Aletha Hanna. Merrick and his brother Sagan were raised in San Diego where he attended Khan Academy. Although a numbers enthusiast who excelled in mathematics, Merrick somehow finds himself drawn to dancing. And that’s no surprise at all. Judging from his background, the kid drew inspiration from his grandmother who, although an octogenarian, she still practices dancing as a hobby.

Hanna hopes to become a robotics engineer when he grows up and he already writes Java codes. Although we’re not sure, we suppose he is currently in junior high and will follow his dreams to attend UCLA, where his mother and grandparents had schooled.

Merrick’s Rise to Fame (America Got Talent)

Merrick Hanna began his first dance strokes back in 2014; when he was only 9. The lad began with robot-style dancing and with more videos he watched on YouTube, he began training himself in pop. Things took a whole new turn when he watched the Jabbawockeez on ABDC. Stung by the dancing bug, Hanna would begin uploading videos on youtube showcasing his dancing skills to anyone who cared to watch. And many did.

Now gaining traction, he began participating n TV shows and in local dancing competitions, including the Nickelodeon-aired reality television show, ‘Lip Sync Battle Shorties’ and ‘So You Think You Can Dance: The Next Generation’. With eyes on the prize, he began taking shots at the biggest of them all; America Got Talents show. Although he tried unsuccessfully to gain entry into the tenth and eleventh seasons of the show, he never gave up.

Season 12 was finally his big break. Although he won the heart of the audience and even the judges on the show, he was eventually eliminated in the second week of the semifinals. He was last spotted dancing to Jon Bellion’s ‘iRobot (The Human Condition)’. But he couldn’t garner sufficient votes from the audience to take him to the finals.

Nevertheless, Merrick Hanna has succeeded in winning hearts across the united states. And by the time he got eliminated, he had a much bigger fan base than he started with. Shortly after season 12, he delved into acting and even appeared in the summer Shakespeare runs of Much Ado About Nothing and A Winter’s Tale.
