Michel Escoto is currently imprisoned after being sentenced to life in May 2014.

He was accused of murdering his wife, Wendy, after only a few days of marriage, and his girlfriend claimed that she assisted him in the crime.

However, Escoto refused to accept responsibility for his wife’s murder during his sentencing hearing.

Who Is Michel Escoto? Wikipedia Bio Of The Wife Killer

Michael is 50 years old man who was accused of murdering his wife, Wendy Trapaga, in 2002 to collect her $1 million life insurance policy.

He got married to Windy in Miami Beach City Hall with no guests. The 28 years old bride was full of love, and she could not wait to marry him. On the other hand, Escoto’s motive for marrying her was questionable.

Likewise, Wendy could not see the dark reason for this and married Michel as soon as possible. She had signed a life insurance policy and was discovered dead just four days after tying the knot.

Many of Wendy’s family members also spoke in court, including the victim’s mother, Myriam Benitez, who chose to address Escoto directly.

She told Michel that he ruined her life by marrying her daughter and killing her.

Myriam added, “Many of you have daughters and sons who will shower you with kisses on Mother’s Day. I’ll have to go to my daughter’s grave to lay flowers. She did not deserve it.”

Where Is Michel Escoto Now? Status After Getting Arrested

Escoto is now being held at the Charlotte Correctional Institution in Punta Gorda, Florida, an all-male prison. As Trapaga’s family mourns her untimely death, he’ll likely spend the rest of his days there.

Although the crime was committed in 2002, Escoto was not arrested until 2005. When Escoto filed a lawsuit to collect a $1 million life insurance policy purchased by Trapaga when the couple began living together, authorities became suspicious of his story.

In an effort to receive the life insurance claim during a 2005 trial, he gave different accounts of what occurred and, in doing so, implicated himself.

According to thefreelibrary.com, Michel has been in prison since May 2014, when he was sentenced to life in prison. Previously, he had been given a 30-day jail term.

Escoto represented himself in the 2014 trial, pleading “not guilty” to first-degree murder. The judge and jury were able to piece together Trapaga’s fate thanks to testimony from his ex-lover, Yolanda Cerillo.

Michel Escoto Charged With Wife Wendy Trapaga Murder, Ex- Girlfriend Accomplice

Police arrested Michael and his ex-girlfriend Yolanda Cerrillo, for the wrongful death and murder of Wendy in 2005.

Myriam Benitez was the personal representative and heir of her daughter, and she was the one who fought for the justice of Wendy’s death.

The judge in the murder case was David C. Miller, and the trial lasted two days. Similarly, the trial deliberations lasted four hours. Likewise, the point of settling the $44,000,000 was conducted in Miami-Dade County Circuit Court after being filed on September 4, 2013. The two parties involved were: Myriam Benitez and the Estate of Wendy Marie Trapaga, where Yolanda Cerrillo was the defender.

According to Michel’s ex-girlfriend, they plotted Trapaga’s demise. On their honeymoon, Escoto attempted to drug Trapaga by adding crushed Percocet to her drink and then drowning her in the bathtub while making it appear like an accident.

Trapaga was suspicious of the cloudy drink, so this plan failed. Escoto tried to drown Trapaga again a few days later in a Jacuzzi at Miami’s Executive Airport Motel, but she fought back. So, later that night, he killed her with a tire iron outside of a warehouse.
